Public provident fund (PPF) is the one of the best investment options for us. This is a safest and riskless investment option But in this investment method, is anyone can archive his financial freedom???

1. What is PPF?
– Public provident fund or PPF
– PPF is a Central Government scheme.
– Find in all Central Government banks, Private Banks, Post office.
– Best investment options for Middle and poor class family.
– Lowest investment amount start 500/-
– Highest amount goes up to 1.5lakh/-
– Individual person have only one PPF account (if you have an account in 3 to 4 banks but if you opened PPF account any one bank you cannot open 2nd PPF account on your name)
– If anyone have 2 or more than that PPF account, then excluding 1 PPF account other account is getting closed.
– Anyone can open PPF account for his/her family members also like wife, children but per person 1 account.
– Lock In period is 15 years means you can’t withdraw money in between these 15 years, if you have any emergency cases that time you can withdraw some percentage of this not full amount.
– After 15 years anyone can eligible for withdraw his/her money, if anyone wants increase it 5years. PPF investment year no limit up to which year anyone want he/she can invest.
– U can give money as SIP (systematic Investment plan) means invest every monthly or full money means annually.
2. Interest rate on PPF.
– Now interest rate on PPF is 7.1% (in all banks and post offices)
– This interest rate can be revised by Reserve bank of India (RBI) on every quarterly basis.
Here one question will come in your mind, if anyone start investment in PPF by which method he/she invest money (SIP / annually).
3. PPF vs Inflation
– Now a days Inflation rate is 6%.
– PPF interest rate is 7.1 (After corona lockdown)
By 1% PPF beat inflation which is not enough but after invest in PPF you can always stay ahead of inflation.
Before corona lockdown, PPF interest rate was 8%.

4. Tax on PPF
– PPF is a Tax saving investment option
– According the law 80C, no tax if anyone invest up to 1.5lakh annually.
– If anyone invest above 1.5lakh, so this money added in your PPF account without any interest.
5. PPF VS FD
– PPF is a tax saving investment. But FD is not a tax saving investment (excluding 5year and up to 10year FD).
– you can prefer PPF, as a long-term investment. But you can’t prefer FD for a long-term investment (click here for know about Fixed deposit briefly).
– in PPF you can do SIP. But in FD you can’t do SIP.
6. My opinion on this.
PPF is the best investment option for all range income person, everyone can save their tax by investing on this.
In my opinion, you can prefer PPF for 15- or 20-year investment, not ahead of this.
