According to meteorological predictions, the year 2023 was an EL-NINO year. Due to this EL-NINO effect, there will be hot weather on the Indian side and very heavy rainfall on the US side.
Earlier, in 2018 also EL-NINO effect had affected South Asia, Australia, South America, North America region. According to the Meteorological Department, EL-NINO is a 5-year cycle. Therefore, after 2018, the whole world is again being affected by EL-NINO effects in 2024.

1.Normal weather conditions.
What happens under normal weather conditions?
In this situation, low pressure is created towards Australia and high pressure towards South America in the South-West Pacific Ocean region, due to which there is a lot of rainfall towards Australia and cold climate conditions are created towards South America. All this process occurs due to the prevailing wind which always flows from west to east.
2. Weather conditions in LA-LINA.
This is EL NINO’s brother
LA-LINA weather conditions occur when the wind blows from west to east in large quantities.
In this weather condition, low pressure forms in large quantities over Australia, causing very heavy rainfall and on the other side, South America experiences sunny, dry weather conditions. The effect of this weather condition is called walker effect.
3. Weather conditions in EL NINO.
In this situation the blowing wind becomes weak. Therefore, it does not flow from west to east in large quantities.
In this situation, high pressure is formed towards Australia and low pressure towards South America. That is why the weather conditions in Australia include forest fires, high temperatures, dry conditions and on the other hand, South America experiences heavy rains. Due to that rain, there is flood in that area.

4. Impact of EL-NINO on India.
4.1. General weather patterns in India?
There is a country named Madagascar in the South Indian Ocean region. Low pressure is formed in this area of this country and due to low pressure on that area, monsoon is formed.
Due to the flow path of wind from Australia, wind comes from Madagascar and that wind pushes the monsoon wind towards India, hence the monsoon wind comes towards South India and helps in bringing rainfall in India.
4.2. Impact of El-Nino on India.
In this EL-NINO situation, high pressure is formed towards Australia, due to which the wind does not flow rapidly towards Madagascar. Due to which even the monsoon wind is not able to flow towards India.
Therefore, a situation of high temperature, dryness and less rainfall situation is created in India, which is a big headache for Indian farmers.

5. My opinion on this.
EL NINO, LA NINA these are natural effects about which we cannot do anything. We can only prepare to face this type of natural situation. So far, 2024 has seen the effects of EL NINO, with a late monsoon, higher temperatures and less rainfall.
Monsoon has arrived in Odisha but there is no sign of rain. The rainy season also seems as if the summer season is going on.
